Neighbourhood: Reboot  
OK, fixes, etc. done at long last (I hope)!

Firstly, updates of both road overlay meshes:

Standard mesh and recolours: minor tweaks and colour fixes; the clickable area is now a single square in the centre of the mesh, so that Sims can be instructed to 'go here' on the overlay.

Seasons mesh and recolours: complete overhaul, so that it becomes properly overlaid with snow in winter and shadows no longer clip through, as well as colour fixes. (Please feel free to clone this for making your own overlay, but if you do so please also contact me by PM for advice on how to get it working properly, as simply cloning the mesh and performing a fix integrity will not give the correct result.)

There are also colour fixes for the sidewalk tiles and terrain replacements, for both standard and Seasons versions:

So much for the updates/fixes - now for the new stuff!

For those who might want to use my terrain replacements with the Maxis roads, I have created some Maxis-match road replacements, so that everything looks correct in lot view:

Finally, some matching terrain paints:

One last note: I have decided not to update the road floor tiles (and have removed the download) since I haven't got the time or energy to create four different versions, and I feel they are no longer needed anyway now that the road overlay meshes have been updated. However, matching sidewalk floor tiles (separate PC and Mac versions) are still included.

OK, so, if you downloaded the previous version of this mod, then please delete those files and download the updated files below (I have also updated my original post).

To make life easier, I have put together download 'bundles' for several different game configurations, and a separate download for the Maxis-match road replacements. But, if you would rather pick and choose for yourself, then the folder containing all the individual downloads is here.

I did attempt to correct for lighting differences between the 'hood and lot that were introduced by Seasons and/or the Radiance lighting mod (version 2.4), but to be honest I couldn't find a really effective way to do so, especially for the Radiance/Seasons combination (the desert and concrete terrains are the worst offenders). Therefore you will still see quite noticeable differences between 'hood and lot lighting in lot view (just as with the default Maxis terrain and road textures), especially at dawn/dusk/night. Sorry, but I couldn't compensate for this.

If you use any other lighting mod, or a different version of Radiance lighting, then I'm afraid you will just have to experiment with the different versions of the files and see what works best for your own game. However, I would suggest the standard (or Seasons - if you have this EP) bundle as the best place to start.

Hopefully everything is OK this time around, but if anyone does notice anything amiss, then please do let me know!

Yep, download the Seasons bundle and delete the road replacement, road overlay and sidewalk floor tiles that are enclosed with that (it should be clear what you need to delete when you open the archive); unzip the rest (basically just keep the terrain defaults, and terrain the paints if you want those too) and bung in your Downloads folder.

Then download the Maxis-match road replacements and plop those in your Downloads folder too, and you should be good to go. :)

Thank you for fixing maxis match version! I know it took so long but it's worth it! Thank you for your time again! I'm really glad to use your replasements! Your desert texture is fantastic as I said before.

First of all, thank you very much for these defaults. I particularly like the concrete replacement which I instantly put in my download folder to use in my newly created neighborhood. Unfortunately, the new terrain only showed up in the neighborhood view. When I went into a lot, the terrain changed back to the Maxis default. I've tested the grass replacement in a sub-neighborhood and there both neighborhood and lot view change as they are supposed to do.
Do you have any idea what I might be doing wrong?
I've downloaded the Seasons Bundle without the Radiance mod about two weeks ago, so I think I've got hold of the fixed version. I also have no other default replacement that could interfere with yours. As I sometimes cannot see the forest for the trees, any suggestion would be very much apreciated.
Edit: I just wanted to inform you that I did some more testing by taking out everything in my download folder except for the concrete replacement. I created yet another neighborhood and everything was fine, the concrete showed up. Which means the culprit must be somewhere between my thousands of files. I'm going to work through the test method proposed on Mod the Sims and will come back to you later.

Sorry I didn't get a chance to reply to your yesterday, but I was going to suggest doing just that - removing all your other downloads to see if the problem persisted. Of course, I'm relieved that my replacement is working properly, but I can imagine it won't be much fun tracking down the conflict! Let me know how you get on. :)

After starting and restarting the game about fifty times, I finally found the file causing this dilemma. It's called "Painting_Wall_FountainModernAsian" and is a wallhanging from the TS2 store collection. According to the Clean Installer it's a game object, but opening it with SimPE and looking at the texture image I saw that it has almost 70 'uieffects-headlines' (whatever that is) and also five 'lottexture' pictures (concrete and dirt). I have this wall fountain in one of my Sim households, so I know that it's a painting my Sims can view, but why it's not built like other paintings I don't know.
Anyway, I can live without it and have permanently banned it to my conflict folder. Sorry for causing alarm when it was unnecessary.
I hope you continue making such great things and look forward to your next creations. Thanks again!

How very strange - I would never have imagined that something like that could have caused a conflict! Still, at least you found the culprit. :)

If you are feeling brave, you could try simply deleting the conflicting 'lottexture' images from the painting package (save a copy first!), and seeing if that fixes it?

I think the 'uieffects-headlines' are something different, and are the little images that appear in bubbles over Sims' heads. I could be wrong though!

Yeah, this is a strange game. I once had CC eyes that let my game crash whenever the newly spawned NPC having that eyecolor came on the lot. It took ages to find the cause of the crashing.
With regard to the faulty painting, I'm going to keep my hands off it. I don't have too much of a clue about the structure of game data, but I have a good sense when something is wrong, and this package is 'wrong'. There's a bunnybear texture (clean and dirty) in the TXMT :-).
Besides, who needs a wall fountain anyway? This constant rustle of water is only gonna drive you crazy ................

I wouldn't have thought eyes would cause such a problem - how odd! I've had some strange things too, such as a custom garden plant that caused the game to crash whenever it rained on the lot - that took a while to track down too!

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the terrain now you have it working properly. :)

sorry i had a question
Not sure if you'll see this or not but thank you so much for these replacements. I really hope to use them when I get my sims 2 working again since I won't be getting the sims 4.

I don't mean to sound dumb but (1) have the files updated recently? Because I was reading the problems immlegacy had. And no one has commented in awhile.. (2) Also when I download will I still have to replace the maxis road manually? (3) Or has that been fixed?

Also I believe on tumblr I saw a picture where car wheels were sunk into the road.

Erm..I cannot think of anything else that I'm concerned about at this point.

Hi there - no problem, I'm always happy to answer questions. :)

1) No, the files haven't been updated since I posted these fixes.

2) Yes, you will still have to place the road directly in front of the lot manually (when in lot view - they should appear automatically in 'hood view).

3) This isn't something that can be 'fixed' I'm afraid, without digging into the game code, which neither I nor anyone else knows how to do in this case.
